Introduction to IAMFE
IAMFE is a non-profit organization founded in Norway in
1964. On June 19th,1964, a majority of participants from 17 countries attending
NATO Advanced Study Institute on Mechanization on Field Experiments arranged
in Norway, voted to establish The International Association on Mechanization
of Field Experiments (IAMFE). The IAMFE proposal was worked out and presented
by Egil Øyjord.
The International IAMFE Centre and Secretariate was Headquartered in Norway
until 1993 when Torbjörn Leuchovius, Sweden, became Executive Secretary and
Director of the International IAMFE Centre.
The International IAMFE Centre is now hosted by the North-West Research Institute
of Agricultural Engineering and Electrification (SZNIIMESH), St-Petersburg-Pavlovsk,
Russia. Since 2004 Dr. Vladislav Minin, Russia, has been Executive Secretary
and Director of the International IAMFE Centre.
IAMFE has members and contacts in about 130 countries and branches in 10.
Objectives of the organization are to inform agronomists, plant breeders and
others working in seed and related industries about new machinery, equipment,
instruments and other technologies for increasing the capacity, accuracy and
application of experimental work.
IAMFE arranges International and Regional Conferences and Exhibitions on
Mechanization of Field Experiments for interested persons to share and promote
information on new field and laboratory machinery, equipment and instrumentation
including its evaluation and related production technologies and procedures.
IAMFE publishes online and/or offline, two newsletters per year online,
conference proceedings, exhibition schedules and a directory of addresses and
product information for field and laboratory equipment from all over the world,
plus other relevant information. New Agricultural Opportunities and Global
Institute and Agricultural University Internet Hubs are now being added. On-line
